I had seen a number of promo type tweets about this book and I didn't think I would like it but was a little curious about it so I ordered the sample. I sailed through the sample and wanted more so I immediately bought the book and binged read it.

"Dear Johnny: A Gen-X Love Story" is basically a story about a young woman who meets the pen pal and possible soul mate with whom she has corresponded since childhood. The story takes place during a very short span of time and is filled with some very interesting and unusual characters. Although I felt like I was on a speeding run-away train most of the time, there were many moving moments. It was at times; sad, scary, funny, insightful and inspiring. I was able to relate to the protagonist on multiple levels.

I really liked the author's style of writing. Elaine Kelly writes with intelligence, wit and an easy, friendly flow that makes the book a page turner.

"Dear Johnny" was a happy surprise to me and I most definitely recommend it.
